Abstract:Vico et ses œuvres is the title that Cristina Trivulzio Belgiojoso gives to her introduction to her translation of Vico’s New Science (La Sciencenouvelle, 1844). This chapter analyses Belgiojoso’s work in dialogue with some of her models and episodes of its reception. The analysis focuses on the paratext as the ‘protected’ space where the female translator – who is criticized for her intellectual activity as a woman – can articulate her ideas and position herself in current debates.
