Abstract: Analyzing stories set in Europe by the famous and not-so-famous writers belonging to the Egyptian Nahda movement, this collective work demonstrates that an “Occidentalist” discourse fueled by curiosity, or even by admiration between East and West, gained currency between the end of the nineteenth century and around 1950.
