Abstract: The Faux-monnayeurs constitutes the emblematic case of the mise-en-abyme and the Journal des Faux-monnayeurs allows us to engage in medias res with this problem, demonstrating that the miniature copy, the mirage effect, in short, the adaptation of the author’s convictions into the words and attitudes of his characters, engages them in an act of displacement and a game. The novelistic personnel come together in an attempt to elucidate the novelist’s work in all phases of its elaboration.
