Abstract: When the author of this musical composition came to take over from Peter Schnyder’s lesson in the ‘Weiss’ amphitheatre, it was not unusual to hear some luminous bars of Chopin or, more rarely, Schumann or Mendelssohn. Profiting from the presence of a piano, the teacher was giving a concert to an assembly of empty chairs. This fantasy on three Swiss airs was composed in memory of these ephemeral conjunctions.
