Abstract: In the work of Valère Novarina, the hand is a poetic word used to conceptualise both the activity of speech and the literary and artistic subject –the person– realised through it. The hand is created anew in the exercise of its singular knowledge and the present moment of its foolish gesturing: here, it is speech which is its own hand. A hand thus appears on stage in front of us, without precedent, offering itself to us: a manner, a person made up of foolish language.
