Abstract: The literary and social débuts of Villers are accompanied by specific social practices in Boulay. The question that arises is a potential overlap between Villers’s original and well-preserved theatrical writings and Villers’s activity in society theatres. Were these writings intended for amateur theatres or were they just initial literary essays? We will attempt to answer these questions using his theatrical works, including preserved, unpublished, handwritten manuscripts.
