Abstract: This work allows readers to discover previously untranslated texts by John Gay, inspired by the London metropolis. In a variety of genres (descriptive poetry, satire, farce, pastorals, epistles), and not without humour, they express an ambivalent vision of a city which is at once dangerous and seductive.
