Abstract: Far from the clichés that reduce it to the mere exaltation of a mythic Provence, the work of Frédéric Mistral is both singular and universal, and it deserves to be re-examined in its diversity and resituated in the literary context in which it was created and evolved at the intersection of Romanticism and Symbolism.
