• Abstract: If several research works have demonstrated that Chateaubriand’s link to the arts was fundamental to his literary writing, they focus primarily on the artistic production of his famous predecessors. The relations he had with the artists who were his contemporaries occupy a less consequent place in his work. While Chateaubriand frequented the artistic communities of his time, he refused to join an artistic network.
