Abstract: Servandoni presented in the Salle des Machines ten shows based on shifting scenery and mute spectacles (1738-1742 and 1754-1758). Attacked or acclaimed, the performances became legendary and their memory lasted in the 19th century, before fading: the master of the machines fell into oblivion.
