Abstract: In his Praelectio to Persius Poliziano provides an insight into his assessment of Juvenal’s style. The comic element is not the prevalent one ; rather stylistic and linguistic features are essential to Juvenal’s satirical sublime. Poliziano’s interest in satire transpires also from the Praefatio to his Miscellanea I, and in the course on Juvenal which offer a masterful criticism of the Carolingian interpretive tradition.
