Abstract: The existence of some errors which are shared by the whole tradition, and which come from author himself, and the absence in the manuscripts. of a title which can be attributed to him, show that the Momus was never published by Alberti. These facts furthermore make it possible to affirm that the title, De principe, which is present in its first edition and which was later placed by Bartoli alongside the only plausible title, is an apocryphal title and an erroneous exegetical suggestion.
