Abstract: Dissimulation as a typology of serio ludere is a rhetoric artifice, whose various models were once employed by Dante and Boccaccio. But in the literature of Humanists, where the polemics on the license of ludere includes an attitude against stoics and a new valuation of pleasure as a new form of humanitas, the discussion concerns also the poetics and the consideration of relation between ars and ingenium.
