Abstract: Françoise Laurent’s study, dedicated to Ci nous dit, an anonymous Christian instruction manual from the thirteenth century, seeks to reveal, in a collection not predominantly made up of fables, the remarkably stable and precise conception of the genre. The presence of anthropomorphised animals, brevity, and the expression of sensus moralis influenced by the practice of allegory, constitute the common features of the tales designated as “fables”.
