  • Abstract: The Algerian nationalists like Messali Hadj and Ferhat Abbas granted an important place to Rousseau in their reflexions on the premises of an Algerian constitution. During the war of liberation and a few months after independence, at the time of the debates on constituent Algerian, the two philosophers provide arguments to those which refuse the preeminence of the party on the Parliament and which recommend a balance between executive power and legislative power.
