  • Abstract: Placed under the seal of fantasy, the novels of Jules Verne that have Africa as their setting obey an imperialist and colonialist software that runs roughshod over local populations. Marked by a racialist ideology, they present differentiated visions of Africa north and south of the Sahara that feed fears of contamination and regression of the civilized in contact with the continent and its inhabitants.
