Abstract: Mac Orlan and Dorgelès, exact contemporaries, met in Montmartre at the beginning of the twentieth century. They shared the same backgrounds, friendships, and experiences in journalistic and literary circles. The juxtaposition of their journeys and sensibilities constitutes a privileged occasion to reflect on the share of truth and mythology in the constitution of the Montmartrois bohemian of the Belle Époque, that singular object of our literary history.
