Abstract: Chevillard’s Palafox is an unimaginable, unclassifiable, and relentlessly pursued animal who ultimately takes the place of the narrator and human in the chase. It is tempting to compare this novelistic labyrinth to the Concepts fondamentaux de la métaphysique. Through his resolutely circular reasoning, and his vocabulary, Heidegger ends by dismantling his initial thesis concerning the ontological superiority of human over animal.
