Abstract: Mixed rhymes in Verlaine’s “Ariette oubliée VI" provide metrical echoes of an elegy from Banville’s Stalactites. A probable intermediary intertext is a poem that uses similar rhymes by Charles Coran whose “gallant” works have been all but forgotten.
