Abstract: Jean-Luc Steinmetz paints a portrait of Berbiguier de Terre-Neuve du Thym, who was cared by Philippe Pinel, and who is considered by Queneau and Blavier as an archetype of the literary madman. This “romantic Schreber”, mentioned by Gautier in Les Jeunes-France, illuminates Nerval’s madness laterally, giving it a context not yet explored enough, and making feel, by backlash, the darkness from which is torn the grace of Aurelia’s writing.
