Abstract: The little ode Les Papillons (The Butterflies), published in 1830 and 1831 and reworked in 1833 and 1853, contains several names of butterflies. How many species and genera does it mention? To what extent do their designations and characters conform to the entomology of the time? This article aims to identify the insects evoked by the poet to highlight his part of creation.
