Abstract: Here is a translation of a few paragraphs from a lesson in which Lafacadio Hearn (who taught in Tokyo at the end of the nineteenth century and in the beginning of the tewentieth) speaks about Nerval and his proses. Some brief remarks touch on the historical situation in which Hearn gave these astonishing lectures of which some consequences could be detected in the writings of poets like Irizawa or Yoshimasu.
