Abstract: Nerval chooses to complete his Voyage en Orient by evoking the Muslim festival of bayram that leads him, distorting the meaning of the ceremony, to highlight Ottoman sexuality. By following the falsely distended threads of the ideological and the psychoanalytic, this contribution tries to justify such a choice. If it is a question of rejecting the Orientalist stereotype of a despotic sensuality, violence remains nonetheless present in the masked expression of an incestuous fantasy.
