Abstract: Forty years after the publication of the first visual poem in the Salento dialect, Alle cave (At the quarries) in the book La Speranza (The Hope, 1984), the texts in vernacular included in the visual poetry anthology Verso… il futuro (Towards/Pour… the future (2021) tangibly embody the ancestral that goes "towards the future". Carlo Stasi's unprecedented challenge lies in the ability to revitalize acoustic and symbolic objects of the peasant language in a modern epic through the verbo-visual synthesis of the calligram.
