Abstract: In 1918, Amour, the fifth collection by André Suarès, was published. A bibliophilic marvel funded by its patron, Jacques Doucet, the book paints the many faces of the feeling of love, like a kaleidoscope. The poetic forms and cultural worlds involved are varied. In this antiphonary of modern times, Suarès sings of the torments of the heart and the greatness of the man victorious of the trials of love, thus offering the reader a path of asceticism.
