Abstract: This first of a long exchange of poems-letters between British poet Charles Tomlinson and his friend Octavio Paz proves an opportunity to approach the Mexican poet’s major theme of the nature of Time as a cyclical and extra temporal approach to be enjoyed as in Hindu myths. On the train to the festival of poetry of Spolete, as their carriage jostles, this approach is made good as they catch sight briefly of the town close by waiting for them and in a flash the present and the immediate future coincide.
