Abstract: Ronsard’s Hymnes show, through a play on terminology, the search for a relevant designation. The explanation of the process of designation (whether it be the imposition of a name, fame, or a propitiatory appellation) is a result of textual deployment, and combines copia and relevance. It is therefore a matter of questioning the system formed by this terminology of designation in order to identify its ontological, epistemic, and poetic implications in the Ronsardian rhetoric of abundance.
