Abstract: The hermeneutics of literary still life could be defined as the discovery of the thing in the object and the revelation of its profound nature, its sovereign autonomy, its essential vitality, independently of the rules defined by instrumental reason in terms of utility, dependency, and the ties of circumstance. Still life can take significantly different paths to consecrate the sacrifice of the object as well as to demonstrate the epiphany of the thing.
