Abstract: In Croire aux fauves by Nastassja Martin, the profession of anthropologist is defined in relation to Hermes, the god of commerce and travel. The story illustrates his desire to weave together the relationships that have been lost between the worlds, as well as the difficult “change of self” to which this attempt may lead. This ideal of commerce breathes life into the poetic project of an author who, in this genre between essay and autobiography, finds a space where she can share the evolution of a personal sensitivity and elaborate a lucid vision of cohabitation between worlds and forms of knowledge.
