Abstract: The universe of Illuminations devotes much space to hypothetical prophecies about the future of the world. The spectrum of future possibilities ranges from hopes of a transformed and liberated life to predictions of brutal repression and global exploitation. A number of his poems display a fascination with the dazzling yet damaging glamor of the worlds of commerce, technology, and urbanism.
