Abstract: This article comments on the exhibition organized at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London in 1968 for the fiftieth anniversary of Apollinaire’s death. We look at the works commissioned for this exhibition from contemporary artists and at the play by Michael Kustow and the poet-painter Adrian Henri to show how contemporary artists created a portrait of Apollinaire made to appeal to the British “génération 68.”
