  • Abstract: This article compares the strategies of petites revues and “large” publishing houses, and shows how the two converged. The former created publishing houses whose editorial model evolved from the specialist book trade to the mainstream book trade, while the latter invested in journals that served as window displays or sites of experimentation. A “multimedia” strategy began to unfold, paving the way for modern publishing practices.
