Marc Lienhard, « Les radicaux à l’heure de la Réformation du xvie siècle »

À côté de la Réformation de type luthérien ou réformé, des tendances plus radicales ont émergé au xvie siècle : anabaptistes pacifiques ; illuministes ou enthousiastes, prêts à instaurer le royaume de Dieu par la violence ; spiritualistes, indifférents, voire hostiles vis à vis des structures visibles des Églises et communautés. Divers, ces « radicaux » s’opposent d’une manière ou d’une autre à la société de l’époque. Leurs caractéristiques sont ici présentées et leur actualité, interrogée.

Marc Lienhard, “Radicals at the Time of the 16th Century Reformation”

Alongside the Lutheran and Reformed types of Reformation, more radical tendencies emerged in the 16th century: peaceful Anabaptists; illuminists or enthusiasts ready to establish the kingdom of God through violence; spiritualists indifferent or even hostile towards the visible structures of churches and communities. These “radicals” are diverse and in one way or another opposed to the society of the time. Their characteristics are presented here and their topicality questioned.

Brigitte Tambrun, « Noël Aubert de Versé. Un chrétien sans attachement ? »

Noël Aubert de Versé (1642 ?-1714), qui a vécu la révocation de l’Édit de Nantes en ne cessant de se désaffilier et de se réaffilier tantôt au protestantisme, tantôt au catholicisme, aussi bien qu’à l’arianisme et au socinianisme, explique à quelle condition l’attachement religieux peut être légitime : celui-ci doit être nécessairement effectué par l’Esprit de Dieu, comme une fixation de l’Évangile dans le cœur de l’homme ; il ne concerne donc que les vérités admises par tous les chrétiens.

Brigitte Tambrun, “Noël Aubert de Versé. A Christian Without Attachment?”

Noël Aubert de Versé (1642?-1714), who lived through the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes by constantly disaffiliating and reaffiliating himself with Protestantism and Catholicism, as well as with Arianism and Socinianism, explains the conditions under which religious attachment can be legitimate: it must necessarily be effected by the Spirit of God, as a rooting of the Gospel in the heart of man; it therefore concerns only those truths that are accepted by all Christians.

Othon Printz, « Les écrits théologiques de Paul Gauguin. Plaidoyer pour leur publication »

À Tahiti, en 1898, Gauguin rédigea une suite de pages qu’il intitula L’Église catholique et les temps modernes. En 1902, peu de temps avant sa mort, il reprit son manuscrit, lui donna un nouveau titre, L’Esprit moderne et le catholicisme, en modifia partiellement le contenu, et l’habilla d’une magnifique couverture. Ces pages témoignent de l’émergence d’une pensée théologique structurée et jettent une lumière nouvelle sur l’évolution de l’art de Gauguin. Elles mériteraient d’être publiées.

Othon Printz, “The Theological Writings of Paul Gauguin. A Plea for their Publication”

In Tahiti in 1898, Gauguin wrote a series of pages which he entitled The Catholic Church and Modern Times. In 1902, shortly before his death, he took up this manuscript, giving it a new title, The Modern Spirit and Catholicism, partially modified its content, and robed the manuscript in a magnificent cover. These draft pages testify to the emergence of a structured theological thought and shed new light on the evolution of Gauguin’s art. They deserve to be published.

Marc Vial, « Charles Hauter dogmaticien au miroir des textes publiés dans la RHPR »

Si les rares textes de frappe dogmatique que Ch. Hauter a publiés ne permettent guère de se faire une idée précise du contenu doctrinal de sa pensée, ils témoignent cependant de la manière dont, selon lui, 121les dogmes ont vocation à être approchés. Cette approche, solidaire des travaux phénoménologiques de J. Héring, est celle d’une théologie de l’expérience religieuse, entendue comme une théologie qui se construit en fonction de la manière dont la réalité divine se donne à la subjectivité.

Marc Vial, “Charles Hauter, Dogmatician, Reflected in the Texts He Published in the RHPR”

If the rare texts of dogmatic character which Ch. Hauter published hardly allow us to have a precise idea of the doctrinal content of his thought, they nevertheless testify to the way in which, according to him, dogmas are meant to be approached. This approach, which is closely linked to the phenomenological work of J. Héring, is that of a theology of religious experience, understood as a theology that is constructed according to the way in which divine reality is given to subjectivity.

Vincent Goulet, Christophe Monnot, « Les obsèques islamo-chrétiennes. Une opportunité pour la fabrication de rites interreligieux ? »

En quoi les funérailles en contexte interreligieux peuvent-elles contribuer à la compréhension des rites funéraires ? Fondé sur une enquête de terrain auprès de ministres du culte chrétien et musulman en Alsace, cet article identifie quatre types d’obsèques chrétiennes-musulmanes. Ces funérailles s’assimilent plus à des prestations sacrées qu’à des rites. L’espérance eschatologique propre aux religions abrahamiques y est peu mobilisée alors qu’elle les distinguerait des obsèques civiles.

Vincent Goulet, Christophe Monnot, “Muslim-Christian Funerals. An Opportunity for the Manufacturing of Inter-religious Rites?”

How can funerals in an interreligious context contribute to the understanding of funeral rites? Based on a field survey of Christian and Muslim ministers in Alsace, this article identifies four types of Christian-Muslim funeral. These funerals are more like sacred services than rites. The eschatological hope specific to the Abrahamic religions is scarcely present, even though this would distinguish them from civil funerals.
