Abstract: In 1514, Urich Krafft, pastor of the city of Ulm, gave a long series of sermons about Noah’s Ark. His highly original interpretation differs from the medieval exegesis which considered the ark as the church piloted by Christ, or even as a penance. Krafft exhorts each Christian to build himself, through a just and virtuous life, the ark which leads to heavenly bliss. Unlike his contemporary Luther, Krafft insists on mankind’s cooperation in his own salvation.
