Abstract: Luxemburg explains that the accumulation of capital devours everything external to it. Arendt endorses this analysis, affirms the need to stop a devastating process and develops a conception of politics based on a reflection on totalitarianism. Both give a crucial role to political freedom trusting everyone’s ability to think and judge. "Politics as hope" is the expression chosen to qualify their community of thought.
