Abstract: Jorda’s paper relates the role of labour to social cohesion. Being an offense to God under the Middle Ages, laziness became a theft with the development of capitalism. Conversely, Lafargue advocates the virtues of laziness. While the author just scratches the surface of Marx’s contribution, his specter looms over the text. A further elaboration of that reference would have given some more credit to the conclusion that the right to be lazy amounts to a break with the logic of domination.
