Abstract: The aim here is to shed light on the fictional construction of the theory of involuntary memory and the Venetian motif, which gives rise to the initial reminiscence in Le Temps retrouvé, caused by the paving stones, and which is hidden behind the last one, caused by François le Champi. Finally, we will discover an allusion to the vocation of Saint Paul, which contributes to the structuring of the novel.
