Abstract: Reproduced here for the first time in French are two texts by L. V. Pumpyansky (1891–1946) dating from 1926 and 1930, representing a very early analysis of the work and universe of Proust. The texts demonstrate an intellectual kinship with Bakhtin, Pumpyansky’s close friend, attempting a thorough renovation of the novelistic narrative, in particular by going beyond Flaubert.
