Abstract: The narrator during the opening scene has the impression of being the topic(s) of the books that he abandoned as he fell asleep. What link is there with other major texts named by Marcel Proust? With the pink pages of the journal and the Japanese paper, these three sets of signs set the tone and direction for the other elements in the library from the Recherche. The red line of violence continues to manifest itself but it will be balanced by the pink tint of desire.
