Abstract: In L’Enfant rieur, Henry Bauchau reviews his life. Thus, bringing into resonance the themes of suffering which may be found in this later text with the similar motives in his other works, this article attempts to retrace a poetic itinerary that has led the author to consider suffering as an initiation into life.
