Abstract: The novel L’Honneur de la tribu by Rachid Mimouni sounds as an alarm bell through Algeria, a vast territory marked by constant covetousness from outside or inside alike. As he died in exile prematurely, in 1995, Mimouni did not witness either President Bouteflika’s return and ultimate accolade, in 1999, or the Hirak movement, born in February 2019 to call for justice. But it looks obvious that Mimouni predicted it through the characters of his novel, in a flash of inspiration.
