Abstract: A paradoxical tension governs the creative process of Pierre Senges. It opposes a passion for reduction and condensation with a countervailing work of filling through saturation, where erudition is allied with fantasy to provide the material and the model of a proliferation of the most tenuous elements. This dynamic is studied in Les Aventures de Percival, a “phylogenetic tale” published in 2009, to show how the ostentatious explosion of knowledge leads to a meditation on its vanity.
