Abstract: This work, partly a product of a colloquia, brings together specialists in Erasmus and humanism, Spanish, French, Italian, English, and Romanian literature, and iconographers illustrating the thousands of contrasting faces of poverty and the poor in Europe in the modern era (16th – 18th centuries).
