Abstract: Eager to free itself from all legacy of the ancient colonial power, francophone postcolonial literature nevertheless remains dependent on the French literary canon it so vehemently contests. It thus comes as no surprise to see Raharimanana, a contemporary Malagasy writer, turn to Rimbaud in his effort to further undermine the French language.
