Abstract: Before writing for the Théâtre-Français, Beaumarchais had already approached the stage from a different angle: the théâtre de société. Acting in a comedy in his own private theatre, or creating spectacles to entertain the company of his friend Le Normant d’Étiolles, the author of the trilogy began his dramatic career by writing short burlesque plays, the parades. This study examines what is left of d’Étiolles’s parades in the Figaro trilogy.
