Abstract: The study analyses the lexical items of the French environmental terminology that are registered in the database FranceTerme and make use of the confixes bio- and éco-. After discussing the classification of confixes and the related word formation processes, we compare the French terms and their English equivalents: it reveals the word-formation mechanisms used by FranceTerme and the relationships that exist between the terms of the two languages.
