  • Abstract: Neology is an integral part of the emerging field of wine tourism in France and Italy. Winemaking terms are posited as the traditional basis of the vocabulary, whereas the new words are those connected with its adaptation to tourism and marketing. The economic model is the Californian winery, resulting in a predominantly anglicized neology, in particular in Italian. The different strategies adopted in both countries are analysed and contrastive features identified.
