Abstract: In this work, we present current trends in French new word formation using the results from the Neoveille platform detecting and validating 22 000 neologisms. Derivation is by far the most frequent process used to coin new words (more than 85%) followed by compounding and related mechanisms (10%). Loanwords are productive creations as well, with English the most frequent source language. We detail these results in a quantitative and qualitative perspective.
