Abstract: This paper studies the neological evolution of the meaning of felloul and ikhwane. It explores the meaning of these two lexical items in a medieval Arabic dictionary Lisân Al-'Arab and in a contemporary one Al-Mu'jam Al-Wasît, then it focuses on their uses in the contemporary Arab press, which break with their original meaning. Finally, il examines the transfer of these two items in the French and Francophone press to see their status in this new context.
