Abstract: Re-inscribing the Discours in the tradition of “natural discourse”, Olivier Guerrier seeks to understand the language of La Boétie as one which constructs itself at the moment of being tested. It is thus not only the system of production or the order of discourse which finds itself transformed but also the system of reception : La Boétie invokes and convokes a reader who is as free as the words which are addressed to him or her.
